What is the Keto Diet

Keto Diet
The ketogenic or keto diet, often referred to as the "keto" diet, is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that has gained popularity in recent years as a way to lose weight and improve overall health. The basic premise of the diet is to reduce carbohydrate intake and increase fat intake, which puts the body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

In ketosis, the body switches from using glucose (sugar) as its primary source of fuel to using ketones (produced from fat) instead. This can result in rapid weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity, and other health benefits.

A typical keto diet consists of high-fat foods like meat, fish, eggs, and healthy oils, along with low-carbohydrate foods like non-starchy vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Foods that are high in carbohydrates, like grains, sugar, and most fruits, are generally avoided or limited on the keto diet.

Rice - avoided

It's important to note that the keto diet is not suitable for everyone, especially those with certain medical conditions like diabetes or kidney disease. It's always best to consult with a healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet.
